Last week our son and his family took a motor home trip to northern Minnesota for a week.   The weather turned very hot for a few days.  They had two large dogs, they were going to the beach so they left them in the rv with the air on.  They returned to the rv after several hours to find both dogs dead,,,the air conditioner had malfunctioned.   Heat is a quick killer at this time of year---please be careful.   Their entire summer trip was ruined because of this tradgedy

Oh my God, oh my God!  That is my WORST fear - well that and a fire.  When we were in Key West and all around the southeast last year and earlier this year, I worried myself sick about that.  Luckily everything turned out ok.  Now that we have the Teton, it is EXTREMELY well insulated and doesn't get too hot - but I will leave the AC on AND set the Fantastic Fans in the bedroom and living room to circulate air if the temperature reaches 80 in the RV.  The one in the bedroom pulls cooler air in and the one in the living room blows hot air out - and I also leave the ceiling fan going and put ice in their water bowls . . . I should probably leave a few windows cracked too for more ventilation.

Oh I am sooooo sorry for your son's loss.  These dogs are my CHILDREN!  I don't know what I'd do if I lost one of them!!

Deepest sympathies!!

Same here.  I always leave the top vents open with fans on when we leave.  We lost a pekingese in Arizona one year on a car trip, just going in a restaurant for a quick dinner.  We had the windows down about 3 inches, parked in the shade... the outside temp was not very hot at all.  Needless to say, we're totally paranoid now.   So sorry about the dogs.

I have on occasion left my pug in my RV while I go on a tour or some place else (not dog-friendly).  Having an A/C malfunction has always been my biggest fear and has kept me from leaving her for more than 2 hours.  I also leave a wet towel on a rug and tie a wet bandana around her neck.  The devistation you all must be feeling is unimaginable to me.  I am so sorry...but it is a helpful thing to share.....makes us all think!
