Well,, I finally bit the bullet and bought a Brake Buddy.   For the past 3 years we have towed cars on a car dolly, without brakes,  and I have worried big time on some of the hills.   We sold one car and bought one with all the tow equipment so it could be towed 4 wheels down,,,what a difference.   I had seen other folks with the brake buddy and it seemed like a good idea, I just wasn't ready to depart with that much money  lol.   I put it in the car yesterday for a test run,,boy what a difference it made.   I think now I won't mind going to some of that hill/mountain country that the wife is always talking about.  Our trip will start around the 6th of Jan---heading for south Texas.  Happy trails all.

We too finally put one in and you are so right, the difference is amazing.  We have encountered a problem, maybe you can shed some light on this situation.  In order for our brake system, the Even Brake to work, we must have the key in the "ON" position which sucks up the battery juice.  We have a brand new battery and it didn't take long before it was beeping and we were out of battery juice in the Jeep.  We drove it over 200 miles the first day and then ran the Jeep once we parked for the night for about 15 minutes and turned off the key for the night.  In the morning we turned the key to the "ON" position and plugged it all in again and within under 100 miles the battery was low, we unhooked it all since the Jeep would not start and drove without it for the next few hundred miles.  Got to our destination where we will be for a week and the Jeep started, barely but it did and then we went to Camping World to discuss what to do next.  They suggested more work on the electrical so it hooks directly to the RV's battery which is recharging as we drive.  For a mere $500 for parts and labor we could have that done, we just spent $1300 for the brake system.

Needless to say we are a bit discouraged but know that the difference it made was phenominal and would love to continue using it.  We spent $25 for a solar panel for the Jeep where we will plug into the battery and as it is being used, hopefully the plan is to have it recharging as we drive.

Is this a situation you have encountered at all with your experience so far?  If so how are you handling it?
