we just got back from east harbor state park in ohio.  i was able to take a trip on a fishing charter on lake erie.  i caught 5 yellow perch.  everyone around me was getting more fish but i was just glad to not barf my guts out, but it was close.    i got my catch in the freezer.  i will be having a (big) fish fry soon.

we did it!  we completed 5 weeks of camp hosting at findley state park in ohio just south of wellington in lorain county.  we made popcornfor movie night, helped teach kids how to fish, picked up trash, fluffed up the latrines, (yes, real latrnes)  and repapered the flushies in the shower houses.  we did anything tha needed to be done and it was rewarding.  looking forward to doing this for next year too!   bnemeth

we just finished two weeks of camper hosting at findley state park in ohio.  it has been fun but busy.    we have had some torrential downpours.  the last one left us with 1.85 inches in a 24 hr. perios.  (i looked at the rain guage)  we are going to put on a bee program with the naturalist next weekend.  fred is bringing some bees we hope and equipment to show interested campers.  everyone likes to see bees up close and personal under safe conditions.  he has an observation hive.  we helped out with the fishing for kids thing on saturday. i even helped baiting hooks.  aack!   tried my hand at fishing--caught 3 bluegills but fed a lot more of my bait to the fishies.  we have two more weeks to go.  looking forward to more adventures.    bnemeth

we are finally going camping again.  we are leaving on june 8 and coming back june 15.  our oldest son is joining us for his first paind vacation in years.  we will be fishing at alum creek state park in ohio for 4 dys and then moving over to salt fork state park.    and i officially retired this week.  did my last item of work, filled in my time sheet, turned in my keys and i am free!!  20 years of driving a school bus in the dark, in the snow, on the ice, thru heavy rain storms, etc.

we had great weekend of camping.  all day saturday we watched warbler birds on their annual migration to their winter grounds.  magee marsh outside of toledo ohio is known all over the birdwatching world.  we saw yellow warbles, magnolias, black burnians, blue gray gnatcatchers, vireos, and a veery.  to name a few.  even saw an ovenbird.    other birds were there too like house wrens, flickers, and tons of red-winged blackbirds, both male and female.  it was a perfect day.  however rain moved in sunday morning so we went home.  campout number two--awesome  bnemeth

we spent a soggy wet weekend at findley state park in ohio.  it rained, and then it rained harder and then it really came down hard.  water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink.   however, we were comfy dry.  the lightning freaked me out and the thunder freaked the dog out.  we are back home.  gotta work one more week and .................campout again.  this time for warbler weekend.    bnemeth

yes,  we are finally going to camp.  this weekend, findley state park in ohio.  the weather is supposed to be rainy but who cares.    the folowing weekend is warbler weekend and we will camp in maumee state park also in ohio.  that is near toledo.  the marshes have the birds.      b nemeth

we just spent a lovely labor day weekend in evergreen rv resort in an amish area of ohio.  it has an indoor pool with spa.  clean bathrooms and showers.  a laundry room you can eat off the floor of.  amish bakery available.  carriage rides.  free sunday breakfast and the eggs were real--not powdered--brown, fresh country eggs!!!  ashphalt roads and sites.  dog walk.  playground.  and close to all the amish towns where you can get cheese, trail bologna,  flea markets, etc.   it has a perfect rating in trailer life book--10  10 and 10 with a star in the middle.  and it is open year around.  wow.    bnemeth

we are camping this weekend in barkcamp state park in belmont county ohio.  we will be visiting our daughter and our grandchildren, gathering eggs, checking the bees (they already took some honey off!), and who knows what else.   

we have been there before.  it is really nice but then all the ohio state parks are really nice.    bnemeth

we finished up our month as campground hosts at findley state park in ohio just a tad south of wellington.    we had a great time.  we met a lot of fine people and we found that some people are not true campers--they did not leave their site clean when they left.  we would do it again next year.  we would highly recommend being a volunteer campground host to anyone.     bnemeth
