Hi everyone.  Since I requested this forum I guess I should post something here.  My name is Shannone and I am a new camper.  We camp with our 3 kids....two girls that are 12 and 10, and our 5 year old son.  We've only taken 2 short trips so far and have one more planned for this coming weekend.  It's been great so far.  We have games on board, crayons and coloring books, and balls, frisbees and other outdoor toys.  We also like to ride our bikes around the campground.  It's one of the first thing I do once we are done setting up, that way the kids can get the feel for the campground and they know for sure where to find us.

Our 5 year old doesn't understand why we won't let him go alone to the parks or for bike rides.  Sometimes the girls seem to resent being asked to take him for a bike ride but I guess that is true of all older siblings at some point.  I was the oldest child so I know, lol !!  I try not to take advantage of them and I usually go with him but sometimes I need to start getting a meal ready and things like that.   The first place we stayed last month had an open ball field right across from us and that worked out great !!

There's a web site you might want to look at for a unique coloring book. The site is Family RV Books. All of the pictures within the coloring book contain an RV. The guy that developed the idea is a family camper and small business owner. They also sell a Class C shaped cookie cutter.

Merry Christmas & Happy New year. Don't forget about fishing:) < Bike riding alone is acary and always having the girls take him will make them resentful. We have 3 older daughters and always making or asking them to take along thier little brother was not fun. But as they get older. Well it doesn't get any better but he will find his own friends. But you might think about letting him bring along a friend aS WELL. We did that and it made things alot easier. For all of us. And with 6 people, whats one more. :) they can always camp out on the floor or even set up a small tent for the girls, that will give them some extra fun and you can keep an eye on the younger ones.

I would advise you to join a camping group.  Just a local group is great.  Being part of a camping group makes camping more fun in that you have more people to interact withand your kids have more friends that they know to play with.  We usually gather around one camp fire at night and shair stories and food.  We love it .

Hi, I'm new here.  Didn't see an INTRODUCE YOURSELF forum on here, I might of just missed it.  Anyways, nice site.  I saw where you like bike riding, that's pretty cool.  I have a National Park just up the street from me, with 45 miles of crushed stone carriage roads for biking, hiking, or horseback riding.  Me and my kids go onto the carriage roads often.

Have you been to any of the national parks yet?
