Two backpacks are better than one…
Friday, August 11th, 2006Today we actually took a break from hiking, and it turned out to be a good thing since it rained quite a bit.
It has been great having Hike around. On the trails, it’s good to have the help and extra backpack to cart some of the heavier gear. Although, there were a few times I ended up carting Hike around…couldn’t see leaving a 2-foot guy climbing a 3-foot rock.
In the past several days, our typical routine has been to hike several miles in the morning and then after lunch, we check out some of the overlooks and shorter footpaths. The plan Hike and I put together for touring around Arches worked out well.
Around the house, our evenings have been spent with a little T.V. Hike may not want to admit it, but we are all pretty wiped out by the end of the day. Seems we enjoy some of the same things - lately we have been catching the M.A.S.H. reruns on the Hallmark channel and a few old movies (The African Queen and A Day at the Races, to name a few).
Speaking of which, time to hit the hay…in the morning, we’ll be off to the races again ourselves.
